Juno What?!

Juno What?! is a shameless dance party.Formed in 2008, the band has quickly become the leading practitioner of high-energy disco booty jams, and live electro-funk.Juno What?! is bringing their illuminated madness to stages across the country. Catalyzing dance floors into sonic landscapes, the band has ignited a devoted following of fans by providing raw, electrifying shows which are devoid of the aimless wanderings of the lesser jam community. Their sound is ahead of its time yet still rooted in the foundation of early-80’s dance grooves with a devout appreciation for sternum-bumping progressive themes. This is a force to be reckoned with. The band consists of Joey Porter (keyboards, talk box) and Dave Watts (drums, samples) from the Motet, and Steve Watkins (keyboards, talk box, bass). This core group is often augmented by special guests taken from the best of the gigging groups on the scene (including founding member Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic). These musicians have gathered their collective talents to focus on this mission of making the world a better place…….to dance!

Dance Floor Plans

You could call James Johnston a band leader, a songwriter and musical director, but none of these titles would really fit. For as long as he has played music, he has been fascinated by collaboration. Johnston has a knack for bringing collaborators from diverse musical backgrounds together and trying to bring out their best. As the leader of Bumpus, he helped singer-songwriter Brent Puls, Andy Rosenstein (JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, Clip Art), Adam Kaltenhauser (Gold Motel, Any Kind) and, most notably, Warner Bros. recording artist Rachael Yamagata cut their teeth in a band that was known for its celebratory Chicago residencies, long regional tours and three hour sets. The next act for Johnston is Dance Floor Plans. "Bumpus started out as a bunch of people who loved soul music and learned how to play nearly from scratch," Johnston explains. "Dance Floor plans is different in that aside from me and Tina (southside soulstress Tina Howell), it's a bunch of trained made up of some seriously studious musicians: a Berklee School grad on bass (Kyle Meyers), DePaul Music School grads (Jeff Livorsi, Corbin Andrick and Ethan Bulak, Zack Marks) on horns and drums). Tina and I just try to step out in front of that and see what happens."
