Circle of Machines

Circle of Machines was a name for a yet-to-exist band in a notebook filled with ideas for yet-to-exist songs from a yet-to-exist singer-songwriter who existed as a drummer. Nick Kitsos says, “Playing in bands Poi Dog Pondering, BoDeans, Liquid Soul, Sugar Blue and many others was a great experience. It definitely showed me how to hold a guitar.” Crystal Drake, a refined and emotionally charged singer and songwriter who loves her day-job painting Brazilians and drag queens, recognized Nick’s quirky reticence when she saw him playing a child sized drum set in a Mexican restaurant. Crystal had been promoting her fictional band and actually got a gig. Nick was in. Wes Cichoz, master manipulator and connoisseur of fine toothpaste, has been swinging his axes in the forest of Chicago music for some years. An accomplished guitarist, saxophonist, singer-songwriter and nihilist, he is still on Step 9. Wes played with Nick and Crystal while hosting a jam session and realized he hated hosting jam sessions. The Circle of Machines was complete.
