Debussi

Debussi has a sound that is difficult to define, but easy to identify with. Inspired by alternative rock bands like The Black Keys, Radiohead, and The Raconteurs but also taking influence from classical composers (one of which inspired the band’s name), Debussí takes garage rock and spices it up with a deep knowledge of musical theory and rudiments. The band’s formation was not an easy one. Vocalist Matthew Kaz and Guitarist Alex Beck moved to Cleveland after college with the intention of creating a band consisting of the best musicians they could find. It took 2 years to create, but after an extensive search and several lineup changes, Debussi was born. For the last year, Debussi has been playing shows along the rustbelt with artists such as Bronze Radio Return, The Memorials (with Thomas Pridgen of Mars Volta), and Just Like Vinyl (with Thomas Erak of Fall of Troy). Locally, Debussi is known for their energetic and passionate live set. Every show is an event and every event is a party. The band is working on their first EP, which will focus on giving live favorites a fresh take. The EP is slated for release during the Spring of 2012 and will be followed by a regional tour spanning from Chicago to New York City.Boasting the slick and polished sound of well-crafted indie rock songs with beautiful vocal harmonies and an undeniable pop sensibility, Cleveland’s Debussi is beginning to set their self up to a long music career.
