The Future Laureates

The Future Laureates’ forthcoming EP, Here and After, is a showcase of vibrant and mature songcraft. With the help of producer Chris Grainger (Wilco, Switchfoot, Sixpence None the Richer, and Kopecky Family Band), TFL has finally captured the unabashed energy of their live shows on record. The band delves into varied subject matter, ranging from an apocalyptic escape, to modern love songs, to a eulogy of Don Quixote, told from the perspective of his loyal servant. They also flex some new musical muscles, pulling from their influences in modern rock, classic pop, rhythmic folk, and 60’s soul.  After six years of local and regional shows – highlighted by performances at SXSW and Summerfest, along with airplay on hundreds of college radio stations across North America – The Future Laureates are a band on the rise. They’ve shared crowds with the likes of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Drive-By Truckers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, hellogoodbye, Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, and Dawes. With each of these performances, TFL has been exposed to artists who have achieved greater success and hold themselves to a higher standard than most. The result is a newfound confidence, earned through hard work, persistence, and ultimately, experience. Danny Surico, songwriter and co-frontman of the band, sums up the band’s outlook: “Now, more than ever before, we understand who we are and where we’re going.”

HandGrenades

Consistently delivering catchy hooks and 3-part harmonies, HandGrenades have made quite a name for themselves since their formation in 2008. Brothers Andrew and Tom Pawelski, Nick Chevillet, and Joby Kaslowski cite Motown and the British Invasion as primary influences, coupled with modern acts like The Walkmen and French Kicks. In 2011, The HGs hit the studio to record Three Cheers for the Wonder Years – an EP mixed by Kevin McMahon (Real Estate, Titus Andronicus) and released by Sound Artifacts Music. Following a stint at 2012’s SXSW, The HandGrenades partnered with Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders (The White Stripes, Electric Six) to independently release their full-length record, The Morning After. Both albums are available online in the US and EU via digital distributors, and the band is currently in-studio recording tracks for a third record.

Matthew Morgan & the Lost Brigade

Matthew Morgan and the Lost Brigade is a hard-working band that has made its mark on the Chicago music scene, and is now pushing into the Midwest. With the diversity of banjo and dulcimer alongside a female rocker that has shared the stage with Joan Jett, this band blends hopeful and upbeat rock with the deep reality of folk roots. Neil Young, Paul Simon and R.E.M. are among influences for the five-piece outfit that is poised to take on new musical territory with its follow-up to 2011’s "Red Silhouettes".

Goodbye Home

The band formed officially in 2008, the line-up has changed frequently, though Greg Jackson Combs and Jeff Brown are the only remaining original members. Since 2008, Goodbyehome has been making themselves known not only in their local Chicago scene but on the national circuit. In 2010 they hit the road to spread their debut album The Troubles(2010) in over 20 states, kicking off in Nashville and ending in Los Angeles. The band received press in the Chicago Tribune following the release. There music has brought them to share bills with acts like Bela Fleck, Dr. Dog, Grace Potter and Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes. Goodbyehome’s music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles,. The Troubles(2010) focused primarily on a sound reflecting folk or alternative country, but has since introduced more experimental aspects to their music to be released in their follow up Electric Cowboy Lullabies, including elements of alternative rock, jazz, heavy metal and classic pop. The band plans to release Electric Cowboy Lullabies sometime in 2013. The Album will be released on CAU Dog Records.
