Low End Theory

The LowEndTheory is a Chicago born drum ensemble realized in 2009 to hit a Full Moon Jam as an organized posse of drummers with a bunch of bass drums. The idea was to bring a strong 'low end' to the jam to unify a mass of many different percussionists. Requests for performances at festivals, fundraisers, BBQs, and vaudeville shows soon followed the transition from folk jam to band identity. The LowEnd's primary musical influence is contemporary djembe music from Guinea & Mali, West Africa. Its members are a diverse crew and have evolved in turnover and instrumentation for 3 years under the direction of Andrew Elbert, a Chicago based music teacher, performer, and composer.
