DJ noDJ

DJ noDJ is a thousand-piece electronic dance band from Chicago. They specialize in re-creating the music of the best DJ's with "startling inefficiency."There is no DJ in this band. What normally takes just 1 guy behind a lap top, now takes ten super-focused DJ noDJ musicians. The upside is that you get a 10 dimensional musical experience, with all the churning and grinding of a runaway train, that only a large group of separate humans can achieve.DJ noDJ hit for the first time in May of 2012, playing two nights of a 40 minute Daft Punk set to two sold out crowds @ Martyrs. They feature all the members of This Must be the Band, Talking Heads tribute, plus Alan Berliant (Mavis Staples) on bass. He's the greatest.

Bumpus (Record Release!)

Bumpus and their powerful brand of soul music channels the uplifting energy of Sly & the Family Stone, the funk of James Brown, and the reflective cool of Marvin Gaye. Led by singers James Johnston, Ava Fain and Tina Howell, they bring together big, funky beats, deep bass, lush JB horns, and a heavy organ sound that results in a high-octane, musical funk frenzy.  Bumpus has shared the stage with many of their heroes. Artists such as Dr. John, War, The Roots, Jurassic 5, Maceo Parker, and Fred Wesley.  The band has performed at the prestigious Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival alongside Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and Widespread Panic.  Their fourth and most recent album, All the People, won rave reviews and they’re currently hard at work on their fifth album, Step Sure or Step Aside. Bumpus continues to tour throughout the country, while performing at various venues in Chicago and the Midwest.

Aryk Crowder

Through the use of a four-track tape recorder in a 450 square foot studio apartment, Aryk Crowder began creating a brand of music begging to be heard. Combining his past experiences, Aryk began to write lyrics hailing from the world of rhythm and blues - guitar riffs inspired by Jimi Hendrix and intricately molded vocals recalling the soulful warmth of Al Green. After months of perfecting his demo, Aryk began his quest for success in the heart of Chicago. The city’s local music scene eagerly opened its arms to its newest musician. Soon after arriving, he had booked live performances at some of the city’s most prominent venues, the rest was history, and a star was in the making.
